Barry Leef Band Souths Juniors 27th March 2015

Barry Leef Band

“Barry Leef has one of Australia’s best known voices, having been featured on hundreds of TV and radio advertisements during 20 years as Sydney’s number one session singer. He has also fronted legendary Aussie bands Bakery and Supermarket, led the in-house band at Sydney’s Musician’s Club and performed with Frank Zappa, Elvin Bishop, Tom Jones and Jeff “Skunk” Baxter to name a few. Barry has assembled an all-star band of Sydney’s best singers and musicians to perform two shows designed specifically for corporate functions and special events, as well as ticketed shows in the better showrooms of Sydney and throughout Australia.

The two shows are: “Doobies, Eagles & West Coast Rock” and Barry Leef presents “My Songbook”. The repertoire of both shows is geared to adult music fans, leaning towards baby boomers. They are both professionally presented shows of the highest quality and are adaptable to suit any event.”

I have filmed/photographed Barry Leef and his band quite a few times now. Barry has an array of musicians that play in this band. Some of Australia’s finest musicians. I wanted to film Barry here as it has one of THE best Light and Sound shows anywhere. The sound of this band is as close as you will get to the original bands. I have always enjoyed watching and listening to the Doobies, Eagles & West Coast Rock, and this band brings it all back.

The musicians are all accomplished musicians in their own right. If you ever have a chance to see them make sure you do, you will be talking about the night for a long time. There was quite a crowds, very vocal, singing along to many of the songs. Such a happy Atmosphere, the musicians always smiling, chatting to the audience and even asking for any requests. There is a tight rhythm section going on between Kimi Tupaea on Drums and Victor Rounds on Bass.

Vocally, the harmonies between the entire band is as good as I have ever heard anywhere from any band. Reminds me of the Eagles in their heyday.

Many a happy night listening to Barry at the Musicians Club. Often a double bill with Leon Berger. Would go down after finishing a gig myself and just marvel at the level of musicianship on display. Leon had Rex Goh on guitar who never failed to amaze me. Happy days for sure.
