GANGgajang Ettalong Diggers 5th Dec 2014
The Rock n Surf Tour with GANGgajang, Spy v Spy (support act The Cupcake Conspiracy) Ettalong Diggers 5/12/2104
(The Cupcake Conspiracy have since changed the name of their group to SUFFUSION)
As we arrived early we went into the venue and met all the bands (Musicians). The Cupcake Conspiracy were to play first, then GANGgajang, with Spy vs Spy closing the night.
Almost Two years ago I filmed/photographed a benefit at THE Factory. It was a benefit for a Roadie of Midnight Oil and other bands Shane Loadsman. Shane was fighting cancer. Spy vs Spy and GANGgajang played there. A year later I saw an Ad for this show above on Facebook and as I had been writing to Shane I wrote to him and asked could I do this show at Ettalong, as I knew he was involved in arranging it. He arranged for me to come and film/photograph the night. I went with two photographer friends. We ended up staying at the resort overnight. Just a great night of Music.
The band started with Distraction, one of their better known hits following with many of the songs I know well. I remember when they first came on the music scene. Back then most Australian Music was exciting to watch and listen. Sounds of Then (This is Australia) was the biggest hit. The band are a really fun band to watch. In between songs they talk to the crowd a lot. Funny stuff some of it. The band mention how they are being filmed and have to be on their best. Geoff Stapleton (keyboard) says how he feels nervous. “Buzz” Bidstrup (drummer) is one of my favourite Australian Drummers. So to watch him play was great. Just a great band with really good songs.
