Your Fanatics

Thanks to Andy Townsend for sending me this poster & the info below.

Hey mate just found this amongst other stuff. They were the next big thing from Coffs Harbour in the ’80s. Davros worked for them as did John Busst and myself along the way.

Singer/Frontman Dugald Anthony at the time was Deputy Prime Minister Doug Anthonys son. Dave Moye and Rowland Moye went on to do a big Christian act Guns Of Fire. Rowland also did OL’55 post Wilbur for a couple of tours playing sax and keys.

Cheers Gibbo, AndyT

P.S.
how the hell did i forget Clayton Dillon recently departed us. Went onto to drum with Jenny Morris at one point too. Steve Reynolds still playing round Nth Coast NSW

Your Fanatics were a fun and super tight act – Dave Moye and Rowland Moye are still very much a strong presence on the North Coast entertainment scene and well worth catching with their various acts… lucky enough to play with them both in different lineups… Rowland played the most heartfelt saxophone solo I have ever heard in tribute to Clayton Dillon at Clayton’s memorial service… wasn’t a dry eye there that day… his passing was not only a loss to music but also to the Coffs Harbour community

knew the boys guess im lucky to have a signed copy of their album

  8. Dale Hyde on April 6, 2015 at 9:59 pm

Good to see history and the boys recognised for a lot of hard work. Having learnt to bash it with Clayton can only say he is the ONLY drummer, haven’t found one as tight since. Hi to all

I not only have this album but a tape recording of some of the guys demo songs in including the ever funny” I love ewe love” and “batman” haha. Also dated Steve Reynelds for a time and tagged along on tour around Gunnadah, Coffs and south west rocks. Best fun great guys and ample talent. might have to make a nostalgic trip back that way some day soon and check out some of there gigs.

I am from Gunnedah Debra and yes I followed these guys around as well, dated Doug for a little while. They were such a great band

      • Debra on October 11, 2017 at 3:00 pm

Cindy I think I actually met you in Gunnedah I seem to remember we picked Dougald up from your place on our way to next gig.

        • Cindy on October 11, 2017 at 7:44 pm

Wow, you have a good memory Debra, you may possibly have. I do vaguely remember someone coming to pick him up once. Those were the good old days, take me back to the ’80’s please xx

It would be just great if one of you wonderful album owners could upload a recording – to Youtube perhaps. YF’s came up to UNE in ’85 and ’86 and we were all the better for it – all I have is a few grainy photos…

I hung out with Your Fanatics back in the 80’s as well, still have a signed copy of their cassette Get Fanatical. They were awesome, so sad that Clayton is no longer with us.

  12. Dean Moulds on July 3, 2016 at 8:58 pm

I am also chasing a copy of “Batman”. Remember them doing a New Year’s gig in Coffs Harbour and that song was brilliant!

  13. Mark H on January 21, 2017 at 2:45 pm

WOW, didn’t expect this. I’m one of the original roadies forFanatics and done some gigs with Coastal Union. Yep, Dillo was one of the finest, Rowland “Pup” Moye is a talented little shit (jealous much??) and a good guy, school buddies etc. Plenty of good stories here, how Steve earn this name”Chuck” (as we all did back then), burning Dave “Dog” Moye’s acoustic guitar at Tamworth ( sorry Dave, still regret that) and so many others. These guys introduced me to live music and the touring scene then was pretty cool, pub gigs everywhere which we don’t seem to get too much anymore and is real shame. And Yes, I have a signed copy of their album, plus a couple of posters including some of the names who they supported over the years, Icehouse, Divinyls, the list goes on.

Just came back across this thread, Bruce and Dean I will try to put some of the guys recordings up on you-tube, fingers crossed as I’m not very techno.

I purchased their Viva the Revolution CD and stickers at Blackstump late 90s still got the sticker on my Bass case

Clayton Dillon was one of the best tightest drummers I’ve ever seen over the years 1978-1988 he was so good I was amazed.

His father was so inspired with his talent I just knew he would make it in the industry.

    RIP CLAYTON ????????

Hi I remember with great nostalgia the gigs that YF did at the City View Hotel in Ipswich. We even ventured to Coffs & Cabarita once to see them. I was cleaning out a cupboard last week & found a tshirt with their logo. Great music
