Bandanna Desk Tape Found

Bandanna

A few weeks back I had the extreme pleasure of finding a few old cassette tapes in a box in my garage. Amongst the rubbish was a couple of gems including these four songs here. They are from a live desk tape of Bandanna which was recorded around 1989 at, to the best of my memory, the Union Hotel in Gosford. It contains three very rare originals called “Boys in the band”, “Find your way home” and “Be where I can be” as well as a raging cover of “The house of the rising sun”.

This was the last ever version of Bandanna and would have been recorded not too long before they disbanded. The musicians on this tape are:

  • Leo Auciello – Vocals
  • Mark Wells – Bass
  • Mark Flack – Guitar
  • Mark Johnson – Guitar
  • Mark Langfield – Drums
  • and just to finish off all the Marks… mixed by Mark Gibson

The quality is pretty crap as it’s a copy off a copy off a copy but you can hear some brilliant musicians playing some great songs. Enjoy!

Boys In The Band
House Of The Rising Sun
Find Your Way Home
Be Where I Can Be

Hi Margo, great to hear from you.

I actually have another tape I found with the original version of Bandanna at Penrith Leagues in about 1985. I’ll get some of it up here over the next few weeks.

    Cheers, Mark

      Gidday Gibbo,
The tape you were talking about with the song “the boys in the band” are you saying that no original members were in Bandanna at that time? And can you give me Grahams email please as I’d like to send him some photos. It would be great to hear from him??????

        Hi Doc,
Yep, the version of Bandanna that did Boys In The Band had no original members by that time. Rick was managing still but was too sick to play. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, I do have a desk tape of the original band from Penrith Leagues which I still haven’t digitised. I’ll have a look around & dig it out. The audio quality was pretty crappy but it has good nostalgia value. I send you over an email with Graeme’s email.
        Cheers mate, Gibbo 🙂

well,as you can see,i am alive and well [sort of],still playing my small collection of guitars and trying to do home recordings of varying quality some of which arent too bad.still love the blues and boogie sound but ive also fallen under the spell of the late great joe pas.i play on my own most of the time which is a drag but at least im still playing with no intention of stopping while im still breathing.hey mate, good to see you are still taking care of business.i have so many great memories of all you crazy bastards and i hope they are are all well.please give all those folk who are/were connected to the band and tell nan and i still remember and talk about those days. never know, imight even come up with song or two about it all.take care, love to all, graeme
