Pseudo Echo

Pseudo Echo

Pseudo Echo is a Melbourne based band originally active from 1982 to around 1998. They reformed around 2000 & still perform at the time of writing.

Formed by school friends Brian Canham & Pierre Gigliotti, they were spotted early on by Molly Meldrum who put them on Countdown playing their first hit “Listening”. Their sound was heavily influenced by “electronic” bands such as Ultravox & Spandau Ballet although they eventually developed a harder edged, more guitar based, sound.

Their first album “Autumnal Park was released in 1984 and spawned a number of hit singles including “Listening” and “A Beat For You”. After a couple of lineup changes they released their second album “Love An Adventure” in 1986.

In October of 1986 they had their biggest hit with a cover of a Lipps Inc’s disco hit “Funky Town” which was number one for 12 weeks. “Love An Adventure was re-released to include “Funky Town” which went to number 6 in the US charts.

After releasing their third album “Race” they disbanded in 1990, however around 2000 they re-formed and still perform today.
