Does anyone know who recorded a song called “Golden Miles”? Aussie band – Late 60’s early 70’s Thanks in advance.

That song was recorded by Healing Force, and was reissued on a Raven compilation cd in the nineties. It was and is a great song, originally released in 1971 I believe. It received regular airplay on Melbourne radio at the time.

The band was Healing Force hope that helps

[…] 1973 -the number one song around the world was ‘Tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree’ by Tony Orlando and Dawn. The top 25 for that year is depressing to read: https://australianmusichistory.com//australian-singles-chart-for-1973/ […]

I remember hearing a song in the early 70’s and would love to hear it again but cannot find it anywhere, I thought it was sung by Liv Maessen but maybe not and it went like this – I need you when I hear bouzouki’s play, they remind me of love the way it used to be. I am starting to think I dreamt it.

Trish, the song you are thinking of is called “Bouzouki”, by an Australian singer by the name of Dawn Dixon. The record was recorded on the iconic Fable label and released in 1971, but to my knowledge has never been reissued on CD.

      • Trish on September 13, 2012 at 9:48 pm

Thank you so much Badger, as soon as I read Dawn Dixon I knew that was right, wonderful another mystery solved for me.

        • Andrew on March 31, 2016 at 6:58 pm

Dawn Dixon recorded her one and only song at the age of just 19. It was included in an Australian hit compilation, the name of which escapes me.

I sold an LP of said compilation to Dawn’s son, who told me she never knew, until then, that the song had been included in anything other than the original single.

i got dawn to come to rockhampton to sing at a sports club 1976
my wife and i picked her up in the morning and took her mud crabbing in our speed boat for the day , she wore a bikini not the normal dress for the occasion , would love to make contact with her again

    • Richard on December 29, 2012 at 7:46 pm

Try looking up Vicky Leandros – in 1973 she sang “When Bouzoukis Played” (Wikipedia quote “became another massive selling world hit in several languages, reaching #44 in the UK chart” end quote. That’s the Bouzikis Played song I remember from back then.

      • Trish on January 5, 2013 at 8:56 pm

Thank you Richard, what a talented lady Vicky is, it took me ages to go through all her music but the song I was thinking of was sung by Dawn Dixon. Trish
