Stars “Live At Bombay Rock” Re-Released

Stars must be one of the most requested bands in my time working on this site. I get a large number of people asking “Where can I get Paradise Or Land Of Fortune etc”. Up until now the only suggestion I’ve been able to give is to search the 2nd hand stores as they’ve been out of print for some time.

Well, the other day I heard some good news from Mick Pealing. The album “Stars – Live At Bombay Rock” had been re-released on iTunes and here it is folks…

Mark…Warner Music Australia have re-released Paradise & Land Of Fortune to CD. Picked up my copies at JB HiFi today! Stumbled on them in the “Alternative” section….Anyways ask the staff at your local JB store, they’ll find it for you.

I have just recently found Paradise at JB , so many wonderful memories from when they played at the Mawson Hotel at Caves Beach. I also have the double album “The Andy Durant Memorial Concert” , featuring Jimmy Barnes, Renee Geyer, Richard Clapton and Broderick Smith to name a few. It is one treasure that moves everywhere with me. One of these days I will get it copied to CD.

I’m interested in Mal Eastick is how I got here. First heard Mal in the ninties at wingham rsl along with Third Degree. He played ‘ Little Wing’ like I’ve never heard it before or since, like a classical piece that sold me on this ‘note perfect’ musician. I think that was just before becoming ill. The next time I saw Mal was at Luke n Deb Everinghams october weekend farm party always on an october long weekend. Kev Borich had Joe Walsh camped with him on the farm tuning up for the weekend, They coaxed Mal up on stage for his first gig since his illness where he jammed with Kev and Joe, Harry Brus on bass maybe Lucious on drums. I’ve been chasing Mals gigs ever since. 2NURFM radio blues night did an interview with Mal, maybe it’s available.
I was busy being a husband n father in the seventies eighties so missed out on the oz rock, Then Luke Everingham told me I must go and hear a band in a pub at taree ‘ Third Degree, I’d never heard ‘ my music’ till that night. Darren Jack my blues guru. He can do it everytime. Australia has so much talent… the rest of the world could be coming here and catch it.. Can’t understand byron and broadbeach, bringing in all the imports, we have it all.

Hi Neil, I stumbled upon this page while trying to find the Andrew Durant Memorial Concert on DVD and CD. No luck as yet! I just wanted to let you know that Mal Eastick is performing all this weekend. I don’t know where you live, I am in Sydney. Mal is performing at LazyBones at Marrickville tomorrow night, Beaches Hotel Thirroul Saturday night and Sunday afternoon at 3pm at The Hawesbury Hotel, George Street Windsor. He will be selling cd’s at all gigs. A few friends and I are going to LazyBones and Hawesbury Hotel.
      Regards,
      Vlad.
