Australian Music Database – Now Open
I’m very excited to announce a new project which goes hand in hand with this site, the Australian Music Database. It’s somethng I’ve been working away at for some time & I can say with great pleasure that it is now open to the public.
The Database is a reference site that aims to list Australian Bands, Musicians, Crew, & recordings all in one place & all cross referenced. One of the things that always fascinates me about our music industry is how interlinked it is & how it is really one great big family tree. This site allows you to follow the career of a particular musician through various bands and vice-versa.
You won’t find the stories that you get here, but I’m sure you’ll find it a usefull reference tool for the Australian music industry. It’s very early days yet but the list of Bands & People is growing daily.
Please take a few minutes to check it out & make sure you let me know what you think of it so far.
Hi Mark,
Another great thing you are doing, this is a sensational idea. I look forward to it growing and growing.
As the Ramones quite rightly pointed out “We’re A Happy Family”
Cheers,
Greg.
Thanks Greg,
The bit that has always fascinated me about the music industry is how inter-related it is & how various people came to be in the bands they were in.
Even with the small amount of info in the thing, already you can see how incestuous it all is.
Thanks heaps for your help too. Cheers Mark
No problem Mark, it’s a pleasure to be on here.
I’ve got a few more to come yet, just got to get some photos scanned.
Cheers,
Greg.
friggin’ ‘eaps good.

Thanks John, I added all that stuff in from that cd cover you gave me. Most helpful 🙂
Cheers Mark
I’m looking for anyone that knew of a band in South melbourne back in 1965 called the peeping toms. Trying to locate past members for a reunion
Hey Mark,
I always knew the AusMusic business was so interwoven due mainly because of its size and the way we all chip in and help each other get along.
A great project with one thing missing: a search function. A true database should be searchable.
Is it me that’s missing something?

Hi Peter, there should be a search box at the top right of the main section (bands, people, recordings etc) pages. On mobile devices it will show up at the bottom of the screen so you might have to scroll down to find it. I will work on improving the search function when I do a rewrite of the software in the near future.
Cheers, Mark
